How should i work out for football?
Q. Im going into senior football next year and I this summer is key for me to get bigger stronger and faster. I want to be able to compete with he other guys on the field at the higher level. I play safety and wide receiver/slotback but i want to be able to get bigger so i don't get out muscled. Any good work out regimes and exercise tips would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is a specific diet i should be following and what about protein shakes? Thanks

A. Well there are plenty of things you can do to improve your athleticism in the off season coming into your senior year. First and foremost, you have to maintain relative fitness; if you can be outpacing other players at the beginning of the year, then that will put you at an immediate advantage over other players, so make sure on top of your resistance training, you are doing sprints, and getting your cardio up. For resistance training focus on your power, rather than just your overall strength; make sure your doing lots of work on your legs, and upperbody. Remember power is speed x Strength, focus on that in your offseason and your bound to be in good shape for the senior year. As far as a diet goes, I wouldn't be too concerned about… [cont.]

would this offense work at the college football level?
Q. it is a combination of the pistol, spread, and flex bone offense with a zone blocking line a h-back type full back, a mobile Qb, a very fast slotback who takes runs (think percy harvin), 1 fast wideout, and one possesion wideout, with a balanced half back.

A. it would work but defenses would adjust to it like the wildcat and just recruit faster players like florida

What football positon should i play ?
Q. I'll be entering 10th grade in august 2008 and will be trying out for JV football. I'm 5'8, fast and getting faster, muscular, and i have decent hands. I am a good hitter and dont mind takin one. What offensive/defensive postion would be the best for me. I was thinking slotback but i don't know. If you know please tell me and give me a website on how to be good at that postion if its not a problem - thanks

A. You are a little short and may not grow that much more so think CB. Slot may work, but if you don't have 4.5 or better 40 you can forget going anywhere. Try this site below

Does anyone else think playing Quarterback sucks?
Q. Am I the only person who hates playing Quarterback. Next year when I move up to senior I'll probably end up playing Slotback so that should solve my problem but does anyone else just really not like playing quarterback

A. I played quarterback my senior year and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Maybe you're just not built to be a leader, winners always want the ball.

Are there any players you see playing college football that hit you as good future CFL players?
Q. I have 4. UNT's star WR Casey Fitzgerald caught 111 passes for 1322 yards with 12 TDs last year and has caught 85 passes for 877 yards with 5 TDs this year (2 games to go) on a wretched team. He is 5'11" 195 pounds but may lack NFL speed. IMO he could be a CFL star. UNT's QB Giovanni Vizza is a 2 year starter shows shows great accuracy and decision making. He is somewhat mobile and is a gutty performer. If UNT digs up some playmakers at reciever he could have a good jr and sr season, but he is 6-1 and his lack of height may have him passed over by a lot of NFL teams. He is very good. These next two are more longshots who could fit. Nevada Soph. QB Colin Kaepernick is a good player. He caught my eye the other night. He looked a… [cont.]

A. The two Rodgers brothers at Oregon State. Jacquizz is a running back, small but wickedly explosive. Charlie Roberts with breakaway speed. James is a WR, only 5' 7" but the sweetest hands in the Pac 10

Q. i am a sophmore on the JV football team at my high school i am not resp[ected as a player, i play wide reciever and safety the problem i am having is that there is another reciever who has never played football , and he is not better then me but he is friends with most of the starting players an all of them respect him, they try to muscle me out and tell him to go in on the starting team instead of me, and tell the starting slotback to go in with him so it looks like they are the starters, i have worked soo hard over the summer to prepair for football and he has done nothing, im not the strongest kid on the team soo i dont want to get in any fights how do i resolve this problem?

A. There isn't anything you can do about it. He's got his friends support and you simply can't change people and the way they think. As foolish as this may seem, wish him the best and go along with the other guys. He may not have worked for it as hard as you have, his game will show that. Let him fall on his face, but in the meantime be a man about it. This is one of those things in life that isn't fair and there are going to be many more to come. The important thing is how are you going to handle disappointment? It's not a matter of respect that bothers you, you feel as hard as you have worked your more deserving, am I right? Set your pride aside and see the window of opportunity open up for you, a humble man will always make the finish line. [cont.]

What do you think is the best player ever of each position?
Q. Offense --- Center: Offensive guard: Offensive tackle: Tight end: Wide receiver: Fullback: Running back: Quarterback:(Brett Favre, yes?) H-back: Wingback: Slotback: Are the last 3 specified positions anyway? Defense --- Defensive end: Defensive tackle: Linebacker: Cornerback: Safety: Nickelback: Dimeback: Defensive back: Last three isn't really needed,eh? Special --- Kicker: Holder: Long snapper: Kick returner: Punter: Punt returner: Gunner: Wedge buster: You can skip special if you want to.Except for kicker. It doesn't really matter how you answer. It's just that only idiots won't get the best answer.

A. problems with this rating: old school players couldnt play in today's game. its a lot more mental and physical. players these days are MUCH bigger and faster. for example: HOF tackle, Anthony Munoz weighed about 280 most of his career. Walter Jones, one of the best tackles in the game today, is 325ish, and Jon Ogden is like 350. Shawn Merriman alone weighs 250-260. (its steroids. you dont get that big and fast on diets and exercise alone) also, some positions you listed (and questioned) in the offensive category arent used today. its like why lots of college formations/schemes cant work in the NFL- players are too fast or whatever. (thats the wingback, slotback). The H-back is a special back used only by joe gibbs when playing for the… [cont.]
