Why do some breeds of dogs have their tails cropped?
Q. I am woundering why some breeds always have their tails cropped, while other breeds they leave the long. I am going to answer you all. DoggyCrazy: Every seen a Rotty or a Cocker with a tail? Why do they look funny? Furbabbymoma: How come over the last 50+ years every dog I have had has had a long tail and never broken it? Raspberry: I am with you, no reason to clip ears or crop tails. A. If you own a pet that normally has a tail docked, you are certainly free to leave it if you like it. It is different for us that show and breed dogs. We must follow strict ACK guidelines on breed standard.. If the breed standard calls for a docked tail, then you have to have it to show your dog. This is the way it's been for years and years and things don't change very fast. On an upbeat note, dog shows in Europe are starting to get away from tail and ear docking. Maybe someday that will happen too. But don't worry about pain. Everything is done a certain way at a certain age to minimize discomfort. Hope this answered your question!!

Q. What breeds are usually not allowed in apartments? I want to get a dog, but I know that I'll be moving into an apartment in a few years and I want to make sure I'll be able to take my pet.

A. It all depends on what rules the apartments have. Some will have no pets policy, some may only allow birds. Or cats. Some have weight limits, some have breed restrictions. When it is time for you to move in a few years you will just have to start researching your options in advance.

What are some dog breeds that get along with cats and rabbits?
Q. I have 2 cats and 2 rabbits and am really hoping to get a dog. Can anyone suggest any dog breeds that may or may not get along with my other pets? Or possibly how I can train the dog to not attack or bother the cats and rabbits? Thanks guys.

A. No matter what kind of breed of dog you get never leave them alone. My friend had a Lab and a rabbit; They were the best of friends. They even slept together and would spend hours outside together. One day she came home and there was blood all over the house and one sad bunny :[. I don't mean to scare you but I'm just warning you. If you are going to watch them get a highly trainable,friendly, non-hunting dog.
