Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX) is an international coffee and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Washington, United States. Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 17,133 stores in 49 countries, including 11,068 in the United States, nearly 1,000 in Canada and more than 800 in Japan. Starbucks sells drip brewed coffee, espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold drinks, coffee beans, salads, hot and cold sandwiches and panini, pastry, snacks, and items such as mugs and tumblers. Through the Starbucks Entertainment division and Hear Music brand, the company also markets books, music, and film. Many of the company's products are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store. Starbucks-brand ice cream and coffee are also offered at grocery stores. From Starbucks' founding in later forms in Seattle as a local coffee bean roaster and retailer, the company has expanded rapidly. In the 1990s, Starbucks was opening a new store every workday, a pace that continued into the 2000s. The first store outside the United States or Canada opened in the mid-'90s, and overseas stores now constitute almost one third of Starbucks' stores. The company planned to open a net of 900 new stores outside of the United States in 2009, but has announced 900 store closures in the United States since 2008. Starbucks has been a target of protests on issues such as fair-trade policies, labor relations, environmental impact, political views, and anti-competitive practices. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I want to open a starbucks in my home need more details on how to do this. Asked by MARTIN E - Tue Jul 11 00:52:45 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. You can't unless you are apart of the Starbucks company. Starbucks is not a franchise. Every Starbucks you see is owned and operated by the Starbucks company. I wanted to do the same thing and contacted them. They lease property from commercial land owners and operate within that lease. Unless you can own land that they would be interested in you need to be apart of the Starbucks Company to manage a location. Note: A Franchise and a Licensee is different. You own a Franchise but not a Licensee.
